West Lake Hills is the best city in Texas to raise a family, and Rollingwood Hills is the second best city, according to Niche.com’s 2016 Best Places to Raise a Family in Texas ranking report. The report is meant to help families measure the appeal of areas based on factors such as quality of local schools, safety, affordability, and access to family amenities.
West Lake Hills received a public schools grade of A+ for Eanes Independent School District and for its family amenities, which includes such factors as access to parks, libraries, cultural activities, and outdoor amenities. Its cost of living grade was a C-, its real estate grade was B-, and its diversity grade was B-. Twenty four percent of West Lake Hills residents are under the age of 14, 13.2 percent of residents are between the ages of 35 and 44, and the higher education rate is 81.8 percent.
Rollingwood also received a public schools grade of A+ for the Eanes Independent School District and for its family amenities grade. Rollingwood’s crime and safety was ranked as an A. (West Lake Hills was not graded in this area.) Rollingwood’s real estate grade was B, its diversity grade was C+, and its cost of living grade was C-. It has 23.1 percent of its residents under 14 years of age, a 35- to 44-year-old population of 11 percent, and a higher education rate of 83.7 percent.
Out of Texas’ top 20 areas, Brushy Creek in Williamson County came in at 16th, and Bee Cave in Travis County came in 19th.
Nationally, West Lake Hills ranked 13th, and Rollingwood ranked 24th. Niche.com ranked over 10,000 areas to compile this report.
