Lake Austin and Lady Bird Lake Reopened

Lady Bird Lake 4

Austin Fire Chief Rhoda Mae Kerr has lifted a ban on all boating and watercraft on Lake Austin and Lady Bird Lake. The ban was in effect over much of the weekend due to large amounts of rain entering the lakes, as well as recent inflows from Mansfield Dam. Debris and the resulting high and swift waters made navigating conditions on Lake Austin and Lady Bird Lake unsafe.

The ban was lifted at 10 a.m. Sunday, earlier than the planned Monday at noon expiration, because the Lower Colorado River Authority did not release water through Mansfield Dam Saturday, as was expected.
